Everton Sign Championship Player of the Season Hayden Hackney for £16.5m

Everton have completed the signing of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough for an initial fee of £16.5m, marking manager David Moyes' first capture of the summer transfer window.

Hackney, 24, was named the Championship's Player of the Season after captaining Middlesbrough through a strong campaign, making 41 appearances in all competitions and establishing himself as one of the division's standout midfielders.

The midfielder has signed a five-year deal at Goodison Park, with Everton moving quickly to secure a player considered by many to be one of the best value additions of the summer given his level of performance in the Championship.

His arrival adds further competition and depth to Moyes' midfield as Everton look to build on a season in which they pushed for European qualification, with the club keen to continue backing their manager in the market as the window progresses.
